The Keck Medicine Initiative

The Keck Medicine Initiative will touch and transform all aspects of the university's medical enterprise and positively impact every student, faculty and staff member, and patient throughout the USC community and beyond. The $1.5 billion, multi-year effort seeks to advance Keck Medicine of USC's academic, research and clinical priorities and magnify our contributions to human health across the world.

Keck Medicine of USC researchers are already working on the most challenging issues facing our society. The resources the Keck Medicine Initiative brings to bear on these efforts will dramatically accelerate the pace of discovery, enable us to expand and enhance medical education, and allow us to continue to enhance the patient experience. We invite you to join us in this extraordinary endeavor.

Campaign Priorities

Broad

Advancing Research
Keck Medicine of USC boasts a variety of prominent research programs in basic science, biomedical engineering, epidemiology, community health, and clinical research. Supporting and expanding a research enterprise of this magnitude requires funding for multiple priorities. Paramount among them is to attract still more visionary faculty members, particularly those with the experience that will allow them to collaborate across disciplines. The ability to offer endowed chairs and professorships, as well as laboratories, equipment, and support, is vital to this effort.

Education
Enriching Medical Education
Each year, the Keck School of Medicine trains 700 medical students, 300 doctoral students, 300 master’s students, and about 200 postdoctoral scholars in more than 25 research and clinical programs. The school’s faculty members also train more than 900 residents and fellows in 52 specialty and subspecialty programs. We are proud of our ability to offer generous scholarships and fellowships to future physicians and researchers. This ability is instrumental in attracting the best and brightest to USC and to fostering their success.
Patient Care
Enhancing Patient Care
Patients are at the heart of everything we do at the Keck Medical Center of USC. Our quest is to become an even stronger national leader in delivering innovative, compassionate care for the patients and families we serve. Over 500 faculty physicians of the Keck School of Medicine of USC provide care at the USC Health Sciences campus and at satellite locations in greater Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills. Our faculty members also staff Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, one of the world’s leading facilities for pediatric clinical care, research, and training. For more than 100 years, they have cared for patients and trained residents through a partnership with the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center.
Infrastructure
Strengthening Infrastructure
It takes exceptional facilities and technological tools to ensure outstanding research, education, and patient care. One of the top priorities of the Keck Medicine Initiative is the construction of urgently needed buildings: a new research building to support basic and translational research, a new Interdisciplinary Education Building to serve as the hub of the Keck School of Medicine, and the USC Center for Advanced Medicine outpatient facility.
